Bardsea Beach
You don’t have to head to the hills when exploring the beauty of Cumbria. The wonder of the county is that you can move from fells to coastline and everywhere in between and still discover incredible views.
This quiet stretch of shoreline just south of Ulverston, overlooking Morecambe Bay is not one for sunbathing but instead filled with charming pools to hunt in, shingle and mudflats to play football on and the perfect spot for an ice cream or coffee whilst the children explore or fly a kite. It always seems to be windy?!
The views are wide and open, with the Lake District fells rising inland and the bay stretching out dramatically toward the horizon. On a clear day, it’s a great spot for walking, birdwatching, or just sitting with a view of the changing tides.
Close to Ulverston, you can wander the shop-lined streets, pop into one of the many fantastic pubs and cafes, visit the Buddhist temple, Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre, or head up The Hoad for more incredible views!
Parking is FREE at the beach, but we would most definitely recommend going to Chill & Grill for something to eat or a takeaway brew as well as going to Roy’s Ice Cream van for some English Lakes Ice-cream – no matter the weather?!
